  1.                            OPTIONS FOR NYW
  2.  
  3. Pressing  <OPTIONS> allows you to change some of the system parameters
  4. that control the operation of NYW. To change an option, type  the  two
  5. letter  code  of the option, a space, and the new value of the option.
  6. The options are :
  7.  
  8. hyphenation - should hyphenation  be  performed  when  reformatting  a
  9. paragraph. Default is YES.
  10.  
  11. auto hyphenation - if hyphenation is performed, and  auto  hyphenation
  12. is on, then Knuth's hyphenation algorithm is performed. If this option
  13. is off, then you will be shown each candidate word on the status line, 
  14. and asked to hyphenate it yourself.
  15.  
  16. hot zone - minimum hyphenatable word length
  17.  
  18. default  scrolling  speed  - for the <+SCROLL> and <-SCROLL>, controls
  19. how quickly the lines will scroll. This can vary from 0 to 9.
  20.  
  21. graphics on - controls whether graphics characters will  be  shown  on
  22. the screen
  23.  
  24. horizontal  scroll  -  when the text is wider than the screen, you can
  25. scroll horizontally to reach the text  that's  off  the  screen.  This
  26. option  gives the number of columns than the screen will move right or
  27. left for each horizontal scroll. The default value is 40 columns.
  28.  
  29. tab filler - the space occupied by a tab is represented internally  as
  30. a  sequence  of ascii 144 characters. You can substitute any character
  31. in its place - popular values include blanks (32) and periods.

  33. insert mode on -  this  mode  decides  if  characters  will  overwrite
  34. characters at the same cursor position, or push them rightwards.
  35.  
  36. auto  reform - if on, the text will automatically be reformatted after
  37. certain operations which might mess the text up (ie - substitution).

  39. ruler as status line - initially, the status line contains info  about
  40. the  row,  column,  # of lines, file name, and modes. The other status
  41. line resembles a ruler, an contains  info  about  the  tab  stops  and
  42. margins.
  43.  
  44. beginning  page  number  -  start  page  number  that the repagination
  45. routine uses to start numbering pages.
  46.  
  47. program mode - if on, then tabs will be expanded to blanks, the  right
  48. margin  goes to 255, and no wordwrap or reformatting takes place. This
  49. is good for editing programs. Program mode  can  also  be  enabled  by
  50. invoking NYW with the "-p" option.
  51.  
  52. paragraph indent - number of spaces from the left margin for paragraph
  53. indents. Default is to start at column 5.
  54.  
  55. show  status line - the status line can be disabled if you are working
  56. at a slow baud rate.

  58. bell with prompts - the program will beep at you when it  prompts  you
  59. for a response to certain commands.

  62. The  default  value  of  any  option  may  be  changed by altering the
  63. WPDEFAUL file.
